Transportation

We do not recommend traveling by ship to our wedding, but you can see lots of them at the reception at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum. Before that, though, here’s how you should get around.

To start, look here for event times, locations and directions. Look here for restaurants and attractions in Detroit.

Otherwise, here’s how to get…

FROM DETROIT METRO AIRPORT

The Doubletree Fort Shelby Hotel is located at 525 West Lafayette Boulevard in downtown Detroit. If you’re flying in…

  • Rental cars should be available at the airport. Find out more at the airport’s ground transportation site.
  • Cabs are available; the trip to downtown Detroit costs about $43.
  • Let us know when you’re coming in; we may be able to arrange a pick-up with a family member, or a ride in with another guest!
  • There is no self-parking at the Fort Shelby; valet parking costs $20 per day.

TO REHEARSAL DINNER

The rehearsal dinner will be held at Angelina Bistro at 1565 Broadway Street in downtown Detroit. If you’re attending…

  • Guests at the hotel will be able to take a shuttle from the Doubletree Fort Shelby to the rehearsal dinner and back. Look for the shuttle starting around 5:15 p.m.; it’ll depart at 5:30 p.m.
  • Detroit’s People Mover train travels near the hotel, and the rehearsal dinner location. Board at the nearby Fort/Cass station and get off at the Grand Circus Park or Broadway stations. Each ride costs 50 cents, and the train comes about once per minute.
  • There is valet parking available at Angelina, or you can park in the nearby Opera House parking garage.

TO CEREMONY AND RECEPTION

The ceremony will be at 4 p.m. August 28 at the Heidelberg Project, on Heidelberg Street, between Gratiot and Mt. Elliott in Detroit. The reception will be held from 5-9 p.m. at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum at 100 The Strand on Belle Isle in Detroit.

  • Guests at the hotel will be able to take a shuttle from the Doubletree Fort Shelby to the Heidelberg Project to the Dossin Great Lakes Museum and back to the hotel that evening. Look for the shuttle starting at 3:15 p.m.; it will leave for the Heidelberg Project at 3:30 p.m.
  • There is limited parking available at the Heidelberg Project, so we highly recommend carpooling to the ceremony. If you’re not able to carpool all the way, you’re also welcome to park cars at the ample parking lot at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum and carpool from there.
  • The hotel shuttle will be available for trips back from the Dossin starting at 7:15 p.m. Its last run of the evening will be at 9 p.m.
